The Basic Stunts in Cheerleading

Shoulder Sit

In this stunt there is only one base holding up the flyer and maybe another base to help her get up. Basically, the flyer sits on the base's shoulders. Usually the flyer does a high v. The flyer should try and squeeze their feet together behind the base's back. This will make the stunt feel more stable.

Shoulder Stand

The shoulder stand is simply one flyer and one base. The flyer stands on the base's shoulder. Their heels should be touching behind the base's neck. The base should squeeze the ankel's down aggresive. This will help the flyer feel stable.  If the stunt doesn't hit then you can always add a backbase, who will hold the flyer's legs.

Prep

This is one of the most basic stunts. Some other names might be an elevator or Double Base. Here there is one flyer [the one in the air] is on top of three bases, two sides and one back. This is at chest level.

Extension

This stunt is alot like the prep except the bases have their arms locked out. So the flyer is at a higher level.

Step Up

This stunt is a one legged stunt. The flyer puts all her weight in one legs and with the other leg pulls a skill. The step up can be performed at either prep or extension level.

Cradle

The cradle is a way to get the flyer down from the stunt. The bases all throw her in the air and catch here in the position shown in the picture.

Full Down

A full down is like the cradle but with a single twist. It can also be called a twist cradle.

Basket Toss

The bases throw the flyer in the air, she does a skill and then they catch her in the cradle position.
